I’m too sexy for my council
In the Mahathir days Malaysians would die before foreigners could be one up on them. Especially when it comes to Aussies. One upmanship used to be the norm in the good old days beforeBadawi took all the fun out of confrontation.
In an apparent hangover from the Mahathir days the Penang Minicipal Council President Abu Bakar Hassan is trying to do one better than Australia’s top Muslim cleric Sheikh Taj el-Din-al-Hilali, he of the women-are-meat ill fame.
If you recall, Unspun posted about the mufti who blamed women for tantalizing their would be rapists by not wearing the jilbab. He said they were like a piece of raw meat exposed to hungry cats (see here).
Catty remarks not withstanding, Abu Bakar tried to up the ante on the mufti by coming to the defence of a municipal worker who, operating the council’s CCTV system, zoomed in on the thighs of women journalists instead of council proceedings, reports MadgeP’s Lab.
The learned Abu Bakar blamed the council worker’s behavior on the journalists whom, he claimed, was wearing attire that was too sexy.
“The issue is the sexy dress worn by the journalist. If it was not sexy, the incident would not have arisen,” he said.
So there you go. He’s confirmed what all us mysogynistic men knew all along: the woman is always at fault for all our misbehaviors.
Apart from that, someone should tell Abu Bakar that it is never wise to pick a fight or blame people who buy ink by the barrel.
