Am in Balikpapan in Kalimantan for a training session with some miners and staying in Le Grandeur hotel.
This hotel may not be as grand as its name suggests but it is efficiently run, have friendly staff and most of all it has great wifi that is fast — and free! Great stuff and demonstrates that this hotel, unlike others under so-called foreign management, gets it where business travelers and gusts are concerned in this age where connection is concerned. Wifi does not cost them much and the convenience to guests is tremendous. Other hotels, however, are so myopic that they think they can make money from wifi connections, thereby losing the goodwill of their guests. Good one Le Grandeur! The Black Pepper crabs aren’t too bad either. Yum!

Careful Unspun, Balikpapan is one of those places that has an explosion of hotels of varing standards, but following the basic follow the leader myopic business plan. The above is almost an ad isn’t it?
Oigal: It’s an endorsement because I like the fact that they have free wifi without any nuisance measures like passwords and charges etc. And its fast as well.
It’s not an ad. I would disclose this if I’m taking their money. Besides I do PR not advertising and to date I haven’t found a hotelier who understands PR or is willing to pay my rates
