Roy the Boy now a music historian?

Unspun remains impressed by the immense breath of the man’s talents. Roy Suryo began life as an expert on telematics, then went on to become an expert commentator on blogging, sex videos, aviation radar and now this, the nation’s musical heritage. Truly impressive.
Below is blogger Adinoto’s take on people’s IT awareness and the role of IT experts.

RS is an unmitigated attention seeker, and moron to boot. why, why, why do indonesian journalists pay him heed?! and why do editors keep passing this garbage on to publication? is there a shortage of “experts” in this country?
Roy is an interesting phenomenon in Indonesian media industry. He has a very unique personal branding, which is probably something not many people want to be associated with.
One more thing that distinguishes Indonesia from the rest of the world: people like Roy has a place to breathe and be somebody! Impressive.

Petunjuk: That’s why I thought the “Media Whore” poster in Enda’s blog was so funny. Hihihi
#KuKuKaChu,
We have lots of experts. Most of them keep their mouth shut with either or both of these two reasons: 1. They do not want to share their expertise, 2. They do not have the expertise to get their expertise recognized by other people
I disagree with most of RS saying, doing, finding…
But…he’s the only one who dare to stand and declare himself as the expert!
[...] faktor ekonomi, katanya metro TV juga menjabat sebagai ketua Yayasan Air Putih, bukan tukang kebun, seorang ahli sejarah (music historian), penasihat pejabat dalam membuat blog, Multimedia expert and university lecturer (dosen) dan banyak [...]
RS is just one of those guys who loves to be on stage and as center of attention, who ever made him an IT, multimedia, etc expert that was of course him self. As far as I know not many people who can in fact call them selves IT professionals in Indonesia are rally crazy about this guy or his comments. He just knows how to market himself but I don’t believe he is any kind of expert … except how to gather media perhaps.
No true hacker will call himself a hacker. His status in the hacker community is based on the acknowledgment of other hackers. He has to prove himself worthy before being acknowledged. Very much like being a Jedi, I suppose, that has to start as a padawan before becoming a jedi knight. I’m talking about true hacker, not cracker or script kiddie.
Same thing should be applied to any other kind of expertise. There’s no such thing as a self-proclaimed expert.
