I'll be interested to see the results of Michael's research. One of the reasons that no-one talks about incest is that we have no research on it. This is in part because of the taboo itself -- potential researchers fear their very questions will offend, and assume that they will not get valid answers. And because we have no research on it, we can pretend it doesn't exist. A tidy little circle.

I believe it is time for sex education incoorporated into schools. The current non-existence of it is scary. I'm doing research into "incest habits and practices" within the South-East Asian context. It is a very gloomy and sad picture indeed. How can people NOT KNOW? Even animals DO NOT practise incest!!! They understand the genetic breakdown as the end result. Unfortunately humans do not. How pathetic. It is time to break this taboo and make sure than mankind is on the level playing field.
