Here is further proof of why the WSJ is doing so badly in this region. Readers of my previous post Where have all the good reads gone? will recall that by coincidence I cancelled my subscription to the Wall Street Journal online yesterday.
In my cancellation e-mail to them I said:
"…There is very little to read that I consider important or relevant anymore. There was once a time when many of us would read the AWSJ then because it provided in depth coverage and insights into burning issues of the day in Asia. These days it's pathetic. You, for instance, do not have on-the ground full-time journalists anymore in many Asian countries. You cannot expect to cover Asia well unless you have people on the ground…."
I receiped a prompt reply from them today. Its probably computer generated. It read:

Wall Street Journal Online Customer Support
Being a compliant sort of person I checked out what their subscribers had to say. They had glowing reports about how the service was the next best thing to sliced bread. The only catch was that every testimonial there was from the US.
Is it a wonder that they have done so badly in Asia?
