Kompas’ daily replaces its editor in chief

Simamora, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta The country’s leading daily newspaper Kompas has appointed deputy chief editor Bambang Sukartiono its new editor in chief, replacing Suryopratomo, who had been at helm for eight years. Kompas’ public relations general manager Nugroho F. Yudho said Monday the change of guard was approved during a meeting of the daily’s board of directors last week. The reshuffle will come into effect Tuesday. As part of the reshuffle, Kompas directors named Taufik H. Mihardja one of Bambang’s three deputies, in addition to existing deputies Rikard Bagun and Trias Kuncahyono. Taufik is currently the daily’s managing editor. Suryopratomo, better known as Tommy, is set to continue his career at the daily as director of communication affairs and one of Kompas deputy CEOs. |
