Review: Hellboy II Is Hell-Bent on Monstrous Visuals

In a summer filled with superheroes, Hellboy is hardly the best known comic-book character to command the silver screen. But the surly demon with a soft spot for cats and Cuban cigars might be the most fun to watch as he grumbles, tumbles and pounds bad guys (and beers).
Getting an eyeful of the big red galoot is more amusing than watching The Incredible Hulk’s angry green giant bound through a cityscape (which was actually pretty cool between Edward Norton’s brooding sessions).
Iron Man director Jon Favreau injected plenty of wry humor into his movie, which remains 2008’s state-of-the-art comics flick, but Hellboy II: The Golden Army rates higher on the laugh-o-meter with its tale of a down-to-earth (and down-on-his-luck) demon that any “
