English-language newspaper to launch in Indonesia

JAKARTA – Lippo Group, one of Indonesiaâ€™s largest conglomerates, is to launch an English-language daily newspaper called The Jakarta Globe.
To be rolled out in the next two months, the paper will target Indonesians and expatriates and will also have an online version.
The newspaperâ€™s editorial team will be headed by deputy editor Bhimanto Suwastoyo, who has spent 23 years with AFP. The editorial team also includes Ahmad Pathoni, who has joined as news editor, and A Lin Neumann (pictured), who takes on the role of senior editorial consultant. Pathoni has previously worked in senior positions for both AFP and Reuters in Indonesia, while Neumann was the former executive editor of the Hong Kong Standard and editor in chief of the JoongAng Daily in South Korea.
