The launch date for the Jakarta Globe has been pushed back again, this time to October. The rason is still something about the construction of the new offices, which will be at some coverted parking lot in Plaza Semanggi.
October is a big month at the Jakarta Globe for other reasons: one editor will be getting married and another editor’s wife will be delivering a baby.
The Jakarta Globe’s also recruited the editor of the Van Zorge report, Andrew Steele, to become its business editor.
In the meantime, the editors are reportedly busy training their recruits to hit the ground running. Here’s a test for the recruits and editors who joined the Globe with high ideals. How would they cover the spat going on between two business groups over a pay TV station? Hopefully not like the Indonesian daily owned by the same boss?
