Hope Worldwide Indonesia is already mobilizing to help the victims of the West Java earthquake and the tsunami it caused. Those of you who are unfamiliar with the mechanics of aid in Indonesia should know that when disasters happen in Indonesia it can sometimes be difficult to find an organization you can trust to deliver the goods.
I and my client Citigroup have found Hope Worldwide Indonesia to be reliable. Their head Charles Ham is very switched on and constantly updates his donors and supporters with reports. He and his team have done a good job in Aceh, Yogjakarta and elsewhere.
Below is Charles’s report of the situation on the ground and Hope’s plans for helping the victims.
HOPE worldwide is mobilizing a medical team from Jakarta and another from
Jogjakarta to rush assistance to the victims of 7.7 Richter Scale

Java Island at the depth of 6.2 miles under sea level.A tsunami reported rised as high as 3 to 7 meter , as far as 2 km inland.
This is the fourth major earthquake and second tsunami in less than 20
months.80 people reported dead as of 5 hours after the catastrophe(38 in

feared that many more casualties will be found in the daylight . In Kebumen
