West Java earthquake update, 19 July


This is an update from Charles Ham from HOPE Worldwide Indonesia on the West java earthquake. Charles and his team are on site and he sms’d over this report a few minutes ago:

“As of 9am, 221 (including 130 in Pangadaran) dead in Ciamis District.  We evacuated one dead named Aunti Oni from a damaged house 7.70am today to be buried by her family.

Kebumen and Cilacap under control. Pangandaran is worst hit, plus areas between Klapa Genep and Cikalong.

Medicines have been distributed since 11am July 18 to Puskesmas Ayah, Puskesmas Pangadaran and Banjar Hospital.

Tents for 50 families were distributed as well. HOPE Worldwide has been asked by Ministry of Health to conduct post trauma counseling training for organizations and volunteers tomorrow night.

A Total of 20 tons aid in food, shelter and medicines has been allocated and is being distributed. THX, Charles.”
