Point vs Post: The battle begins

While The Point struggles with circulation problems, the Jakarta Post has moved to consilidate its hold over Bali.

Jakarta Post CEO Daniel Rembeth was apparently in Bali last week to make sure that Bali readers will get their copies early. The Post is now printing in Bali and its readers will no longer have to wait till noon to read the day’s paper.

“We’re printing 2,500 copies in Bali to start,” Daniel told Unspun, adding that the move has already generated a lot of demand from newsagents in the holiday island.

What next? Greater coverage of Bali and perhaps a beffing up of the editorial staff there. Not a bad move really, considering how many expatriates have made their homes in Bali.
