Blogger in the House

Malaysian uber blogger Jeff ooi made history recently by being the first person to use his blogging as a platform to enter politics – and the Malaysian parliament.

So what happens when you have a blogger in the House of Representatives? He blogs and tells all about the proceedings there.

Will this change the behavior of politicians? Will this constant stream of posts and updates bring about a welcome change to the Malaysian Parliament, or would it dissipate into the ether?

Time, as the cliche goes, will tell.

Blogging live in Parliament

UPDATED VERSION. I am taking my oath as an elected Member of Parliament this morning. The swearing-in of the Members of Parliament is done in batches of foursome. It will be some time before my turn. So, here I am and I blog.

It’s amusing to see a sea change two metres away from my seat. They, facing the Speaker, are the ex-Ministers and axed Ministers, namely Ku Li, Ong Ka Ting and that Fat Lady on the front row; and Fong Chan Onn, Azmi Khalid and JJ on the second row.

I am amused to hear several Umno ministers miss/omit the words ‘menunaikan kewajipan-kewajipan saya (sebagai yang demikian) dengan JUJUR’.. Not believing my ears, I double checked with Charles Santiago, who sits besides me, and he confirmed what I heard.

Jujur!

NO THAT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME A BLOGGER GOT ELECTED

A member of Canada’s Parlaiment, a Blog Quebecois politician got elected in Quebec, canada who was known for her many wrtings and she next asked me to send her a copy of my wrtings too..
