22 children in 31 years

This has to be a record of sorts and may go some way to explain why Indonesia’s the fourth most populous nation in the world.

A 46-year old woman and her 58-year old husband in the central Java town of Pekalongan are expecting their 22nd child after 31 years of marriage. That works out to be roughly 1.3 children each year.

Wanita di Pekalongan Nantikan Kelahiran Anak Ke-22

Dani Wisnu – detikNews

Pekalongan

  4. Very large families were not uncommon in Quebec, Canada early in the century. My grand-mother had 21 brother and sisters and all 22 children were from the same mother.
