PR conference vs PR Conference

End November will see two competing PR Conferences vying for attention back to back.

There is one, one-day conference on 28th November called “Public Relations Outlook 2007: Barriers Versus Challenges” with the Minister of Communications and Information Sofyan Djalil as the keynote speaker and rest of the agenda broken up into panel discussions for the finance, manufacturing and services sector.

Then from the 29th November through to 1 December there is the more wordy conference called “The Dynamics of Power Public relations: An innovative approach in coping with social, political and economic trends”. This do is organized by the PR Society of Indonesia and bills its speakers as globally distinguished who would take the local perspective in consideration. It names among others, Tengku Marina Baldishah, Group Corporate Affairs Manager, Nestle Malaysia, former Singapore Ambassador turned businessman Edward Lee and some local PR practitioners such as Magdalena Wenas and Unspun’s alter ego. Wow! Now he gets to be considered glocal! Unspun understands that he’ll have a rather er maverick twist to the topic given: Understanding and interpreting the client’s needs and wants – Innovative ways in developing Public Relations Strategies in line with Corporate Goals. A mouthful of a title and probably longer than His talk.
