One step forward, stop, macet

About to weeks ago Unspun complimented Jakarta Post for taking its first steps toward interactivity. Since then they have taken the advice of some readers who posted their comments on this blog and improved thier comments section by making it more user friendly.

But after two weeks the Jakarta Post needs to demonstrate that it can move faster than the habitual glacial pace of a monopoly. The comments section are only good if the web master makes it easy for its readers to see if there are any comments on the stories. As it is you have to really forage for them. Unspun spotted few but a few comments, buried deep in a web page, does not a good conversation make.

Moreover, after two weeks, the comments are still confined to the “headlines,” stories.  Too bad, if like Unspun, you have a grouse about their “city” stories. Still, Unspun has a blog and can vent about the ridiculous treatment of the story here.

Time to move on Jakarta Post, you took a good first step . Time you took another by shaking of the ennui of establishment and old fashioned editors.
