Parliamentarians accuse women of “leaking” every month

What is it with Malaysian politicians and women. Why is it so difficult for them to respect women? And why is it that they can still get away with it? And why is it that their “apologies” all fall far short of apologies? The MPs in this story said they would apologize to women “if” their remarks had insulted them. Meaning that they themselves do not think that their remarks are insulting.

Unspun bets a few women are still smarting over Tengku Adnan’s “all women bloggers are liars” comment.

Why is it that these despicable testostrone-filled bags of shit are still allowed to keep their titles of datuk, tengku and what not after making fools of themselves? If the Royal families want to live up to their supposed titles of defenders of the rakyat perhaps they should think of stripping these people of their titles.

Yet another reason to live away from Malaysia, so that one is not smeared with such attitudes and blatant injustices.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 18, 2007): Ten days after making a sexist remark in Parliament, the two “bocor” MPs relented to the furore of women in the country and apologised.
Emerging from a 40-minute meeting with Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil this morning, both said they apologise to all women in the country if their remarks had insulted them.

However, Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) and Datuk Mohd Said Yusof (BN-Jasin) refused to refer to Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) when asked whether the apology was also extended to her (Fong).

Bung had in the Dewan Rakyat on May 9 remarked that Fong also “leaked every month” (in apparent reference to women’s menstrual cycle) during a heated debate on Parliament House’s leaky roof.
