How A&W Sucks more profit from you

Unspun has lately rekindled his love for A&W Root Beer, the drink Unspun had as a treat whenever Unspun’s parents took him to KL. Those were the days in which A&W, located somewhere near PJ New Town, was the only fast food in town.

The A&W Root Beer in Indonesia is no less delicious, but there is a nefarious twist to the drink, so much so that Unspun suspects Baldrick has been advising the management of A&W Indonesia with another of his “cunning plans”.

Th cunning plan is this – they add ice cubes to the float. It was strange but it did not take long for Unspun’s dirty mind to to figure out the reason why they add ice cubes – they do so to save on the Root Beer! This is the same reason why many shops give you a drink with lots and lots of ice cubes.

The dirty chappies. Shame on them for listening to Baldrick. Unspun wonders what they have done to the once beloved Coney Dog. Shudder!

  1. Ahh…a coney dog and a root beer. That was paradise! šŸ™‚

Remember how A & W sold its root beer in containers that could be used for refills? You could purchase a container and enjoy its heavenly root beer in the comfort of your home, on picnics, etc.

It was the drink of the generation in KL.

  2. Well, they are the main sponsor of TVRI’s Dansa Yo Dansa — the ballroom dancing show that was judged too suggestive a few years back and left the airwaves temporarily — so they need to keep getting money any which way they can for that hefty sponsorship. Ballroom dancers don’t accept all-you-can-eat burger spreads as their prize you know ….

  3. well, that’s why I always ask for “… with a very few icecubes in there” whenever I order at fastfood counters or on flights.

  4. this happened to me on Idlywyld ave in Saskatoon SK and this is the letter i sent to A&W customer service.
    WHAT HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE?
I’ve been in customer service for a long time and let me tell what i experienced today was far from it.I went to A&W and i admit the first time in awhile.I ordered your 2 little cheesebugers (Not sure what they are called) and one piece of chicken (thigh) to which i was told it would take 12 minutes (i agreed) so i sat down and waited. The meal came i started eating and the chicken was frozen in the center so i went back and told the waitress (Sharissa) she said OK so i went back and ate my burgers and the waitress proceeded to explain to the manager (KYLE) what had happened.I ate the rest of my burgers and went to ask the waitress what they are going to do about the chicken. She said we can make you another piece i said i don’t have another 12 minutes to wait.she said sorry so again i asked what are you going to do about the chicken?all she said was Sorry? (as if to ask me).So i asked for the manager and asked him.(Heres the best part) he said it was cooked for a full 15 minutes so there is nothing he can do (REALLY) is this your policy.I’m basically told i took my chances ordering the chicen (i think not)I never recieved a reciept with my meal so i have no cash receipt but I THINK one of them was old enough to remember me.I’m old enough to know what customer service is and how vaulable it is because believe it or not people like me keep businesses like A&W in business.Thank you for taking the time to read this and please understand i am not looking for a handout i just expect to get what i paid for and there was an older couple in the resurant that wittnessed this as well and they caught my eye and couldn’t believe it either.I will wait (hopefully not long)to here back with your response.Thank you I never did hear back that was over a week ago
