Priyadi Iman Nurchayo of Priyadi’s Place may describe himself as “an ordinary human being living in Depok, Indonesia” but as far as I am concerned, he’s got a delightful wicked sense of humor.
His latest posting on SBY and Friendster contains remarks that will, if you understand Indonesian, make your collegues look askance at you as you kill yourself laughing.
Priyadi says that according to Seputar Indonesia, a prankster has set up a Friendster account ubnder the President’s name, including posting his photos and aYahoo e-mail account with the address Soesilobambang_y@yahoo.com
Not one to stand for nonsense the office has acted swiftly to nip the cheeky impersonation attempt in the bud. Presidential Spokesperson Andi Malarengeng told the paper that they have sent an official letter to Friendster to terminate the site. (They must have succeeded because its not there any more, if anyone has a screensho, please share)
All fine and well. But Priyadi then wonders whether the Presidential Office and Spokesperson may not have anything of more pressing national importance than to attend to a prankster in Friendster. It’s a valid point. Don’t they have more things to attend to like combating corruption or alleviating poverty? So why is a Friendster prankster getting so much attention?
Could it be, muses Priyadi, that even the President’s Office is infected by the dreaded disease: Expertitis, which was unveiled to the world in Unspun only one day ago? Epidemiologists have suggested that evidence of Expertitis in the President’s Office have actually surfaced before and chronicled in Unspun, only that the author did not know it was a disease then. They cite the posting Governing via text messages and Susilo all mixed up when it comes to PR as early indications of Expertitis. But what do these experts know about anything?
