Good to see the Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club trying to capture back the camaraderie that existed among foreigh correspondents when they were hanging out in the Hazarra and BB’s.

The initiative, dubbed Third Thursday mixer kicked off last night at the Face Bar. To get laggards to attend the monthly event JFCC even offered free flow beer for the kickoff event. This is twice in a row that Unspun has enjoyed the largese of journalists. The first was last month when the JFCC unveiled its new website. This must go down as a record of sorts – journalists treating PR hacks (Mark Winkel from Prisma was there to drink shoulder to shoulder with Unspun) to free drinks.

The Third Thursday is an excellent idea though and deserves the moderate attendance it got last night. So diplomats, spies, journalists, fixers and assorted columnists make a beeline for Lan Na Thai and mingle with your favorite foreign journalists next month.

Unspun understands that the mixer is DPA correspondent Joe Cochrane’s idea. Good one Joe!

Unspun now hear that Joe’s planning a wicked party in his house soon and certain columnists are inquiring if there would be free drinks there as well.
