Unspun’s spent many a pleasant night of boozy bliss at Cinnabar and even met someone super special there. Then it closed and there have been reports of people wandering around Jakarta like lost souls or the Ancient Mariner accosting former drinking buddies with the imploring question: “Now that Cinnabar’s closed where do we go to drink?”
Is salvation at hand to these wandering souls? The Jakarta Foreign Correspondent’s Club, home of some of the most formidable drinkers, had this to report about The-Bar-That-Used-to-Be-Called-Cinnabar:
For those of you longing for the old Cinnabar days, the time to take a walk down memory lane is here. The bar, re-opening tonight as Olives, will be offering a free flow of beer and house pours from 8-10 PM. In case you don’t remember, the bar is still located at Plaza Gani Djemat, across from the Mandarin Hotel on Jl Imam Bonjol. Stop by after work or come later for a night cap. All members are welcome.
Will The-Bar-That-Used-to-Be-Called-Cinnabar measure up to the JFCC members’ exacting standards? One hack was already complaining that the new owners did not do anything to change the place and he was thus boycotting tonight’s free flow and other night’s not so free flow. No olive branch from him, it seems. Ah well, time will tell…
