It’s a topsy turvy world

hatta.jpgIt’s a topsy turvy world when the Transportation Minister (as captured in today’s front page story in Koran Tempo) says he’s willing to resign to take responsibility or the string of transportation (ferries, planes and trains) accidents – AND THEN at the same breadth says that he’ll resign only if the President asks him to.

It’s a real world when a Minister tenders in his resignation to take responsibility – and this resignation is then accepted, or not accepted, by the President.

It’s a topsy turvy world when the President makes a surprise visit to a public ferry in the immediate aftermath of the second ferry tragedy in 2 months, finds safety violations up the wazoo, and threatens transport owners with sanctions if such violations continue to occur.

It’s a real world when a President makes a surprise visit to a public ferry in the immediate aftermath of the second ferry tragedy in 2 months, finds safety violations up the wazoo and shuts down the business on the spot – after sacking the Transportation Minister for failing to enforce safety regulations.

  1. Well, reality in check, we don’t live in the real world. Seriously if every minister have to take responsibility for all the ills of this country, we will have to sack all their asses and put them in front of a live firing squad. Sometimes I wonder if we are better off without a government… since they are only actively looking for ways to steal from the country and screw everything that moves… includes you and me (not literally) and a lot of actresses (literally).
