If, like Unspun, you are often sent into a narcoleptic fit by speakers making love to their Powerpoint presentations in seminars, then you need to watch Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth to see how it should be done.
It is a very entertaining, intelligent and compelling slideshow about why all of us need to wake up to the fact that our climate and world is changing so drastically and why we all need to act now.
Best of all the movie is really a slideshow by Al Gore, with personal bits and footage sliced in. The rest is of Al Gore presenting his slideshow. Unspun thinks he used Keynote, Mac’s equivalent of Powerpoint, butGore goes to show that even dry, complicated subjects can come to life if you do it well. As a friend said, he made the data come to life and that’s a skill worth acquiring. Anyone who’s had to make a Powerpoint presentation in their work should look at the movie, if nothing else to see how Gore puts it all together and presents it so well. But don’t miss the message there as well: that our world ig going to hell in a handbasket unless we do something about it now.
