Indonesia’s first pro blogger launches Asia Blogging Network

Indonesia’s first professional, full time blogger Budi Putra has started AsiaBlogging, “a global new media network featuring more than 70 blogs (in the first phase) on a wide range of topics from movies and music to technology, sport and lifestyle.”

In essence it wants to be a super portal for bloggers writing out of Asia. Interesting concept, and an Asian version of Global Voices, but it remains to be seen whether it works. My friend and WSJ columnist Jeremy Wagstaff has an interesting on the localization of blogging here.

Anyway Asia Bloging is based in Jakarta and features some of what the management thinks are the big names in Indonesian blogging such as author and multi-talented person Jennie S. Bev, former presidential spokesperson and talkshow host Wimar Witoelar and veteran journalist Andreas Harsono. They have some riff raff poseurs as well, including Unspun (although he has been remiss at filing a posting there so far).

The folks at Asia Blogging are also looking for Asian-based Bloggersto contribute. perhaps brothers from Seberang like Rocky, Jeff, Susan Loone and Elizabeth Wong would like to go for a Asian Bloggers United concept?

  1. Can’t wait to read your first posting at ABN. It must be very insightful, like your other writings.
