Malaysian Foreign Ministry issues press release about “sweeping”

Unspun‘s just rceived this, a press statement issued by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry in response to the bunch of guys with sharp bamboo sticks and blunt minds conducting “sweeping” operations for Malaysian citizens at Jalan Diponegoro in Jakarta.

PRESS STATEMENT BY FOREIGN MINISTER OF MALAYSIA ON SITUATION IN REPUBLIC INDONESIA

Malaysia expresses grave concern on the actions of certain quarters in the Republic of Indonesia which are intended to spark conflicts between the peoples of Malaysia and Indonesia. Allegations and accusations by certain sections of the Indonesian media as well as related incidents such as ‘sweeping’ operations targeted at Malaysians in Indonesia, burning of the Malaysian flag and demonstrations at Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta have given rise to controversy as well as negative perceptions by the people of both countries which may be detrimental to the long-standing bilateral relations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia urges the Government of the Republic Indonesia to take the necessary actions in order to ensure the welfare and well-being of Malaysian citizens in Indonesia are taken care of, as well as to ensure that such aggressive actions of certain extremists in Indonesia are curtailed immediately.

In this regard, on 9 September 2009 The Hon. Datuk Anifah Aman, Foreign Minister of Malaysia has summoned H.E. Tan Sri Da’I Bachtiar, The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia, to express Malaysia’s position on the conflicting issues which has resulted in the deterioration of the bilateral relations of both countries. H.E. The Ambassador of Indonesia has contacted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia as well as the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, who have assured that necessary measures will be taken to ensure the security of Malaysian citizens in Indonesia.

So far, there has been no report on any injuries or fatalities among Malaysians in Indonesia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta will continue to monitor the situation closely and will issue reports accordingly.

To this end, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta have set up Operation Rooms, to receive reports of any related incidents from members of the public, especially from Malaysian citizens currently in Indonesia. The Operation Rooms can be contacted at:

MALAYSIA HAS BEEN SO KIND TO INDONESIAN FOR LETTING THEM STUDY AND WORK IN MALAYSIA DESPITE THEIR BARBARIAN ACT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY MALAYSIAN WERE ROBBED, KILLED AND RAPED BY INDONESIANS. INDONESIAN ARE TOO EMOTIONAL IN THIS MATTER.

    Mosaic,

Perhatikan propaganda pemerintah melalui Bernama berikut.

“We mustn’t forget that some countries, which were doing even better than us when we achieved Merdeka, had fallen by the wayside because of poor governance and instability.”‘

Enough is enoigh.

Anti Rela, I think you’re trying to convince yourselves more than others of your own theory hence at the slight trace of anything that may appear to support your hypotheses (however skewed and not it may be), you’re ever so ready to jump at the conclusion.
Im not saying its only ridiculous to assume that there’s no perverse propaganda attached in some RELA conducts (or misconducts) but to assume every action is highly and only driven to undermine Indonesian culture per se is downright absurd. Im not sure if you’re one of the purge victim, but assuming you’ve fallen victim to these unscrupulous hands (which explains unforgiving tone in your writings), we’re sorry, but Im sure you’re aware that paperless aliens in Malaysia do not consist of only Indonesians. Bangladeshis, Myanmar (although most of them now easily getting away with UNHCR papers), Filipinos, Laos and cambodians are among the few more lots making their ways here and to strategize every other purging propaganda is almost pointless (as propaganda is meant to reach the public and influenced their way of life, oh yeah! only Indonesians are worthy being the b*tt of the..ehhh propaganda (you implied so!) like we all have enough time for ourselves already!–we’re getting to propaganda soon enough). Your samples of othering theory are weaved conviniently albeit unintelligently and as if every case has an absolute reason; obligedly rigid to its sole and primary cause.

Even if I tackle the assumptions thrown here at the lowest denomination of face value, they still appear ridiculous. malaysian media is said to be all spiteful and act voluntarily as the loudspeaker of hate Indonesia propaganda (as allegedly commissioned by the Malaysian gov). I dont think so! For all it is (even after the public cry over excessive airtime of Indonesian sinetrons- prime time not spared) its hardly Indo Haters . With the big followings of some of Indo bands here – I guess the propaganda only works in reverse eh?

“We mustn’t forget that some countries, which were doing even better than us when we achieved Merdeka, had fallen by the wayside because of poor governance and instability.”
you’re reading too much into the lines (the invincible ones at that!) even if its not directed at you (irregardless of how literal this statement was made without any mentions of the word Indonesia) your insecurity only help to magnify your imaginary inclusion. Nah! im not buying..not that Im buying UMNO’s “othering” menu having said that.

You see, anti Rela, people come in all manner of shapes and sizes, so do Malaysians (and Indonesians alike). I might not ever so readily agree with my Gov’s stance and so does probably thousands of Malaysians in Jakarta about to fall prey to these unauthorized vigilantes. To hold us account to your fallen national pride is very unfair if not barbaric but to make this resonate (and justifiable) through allegedly tit-for-tat sweeping for what Rela has done is even worse, for the latter is at least justified by fiscal reasons(Im not ruling out misconducts along the way but to ascribe high-handedness of propaganda in the main way is just funny..keep credits where its due) and the former is purely blind emotional patriotism.

Malaysians react when their media reported about the so-called sweeping of Malaysian in Indonesia. I deplore such act, I also hope that Bendera people will be questioned by the police.

So maybe you in Malaysia will start to understand why Indonesian react when Indonesians in Malaysia were harmed by RELA many times or by the malaysian Navy etc.

For example when malaysian NAVY shot a fishing boat belongs to fisherman in Nunukan, our media reported it, they show the boat that has been shot, they interviewed the fishermen, while the fishermen themselves certain they are still in Indonesian waters. And about the caning of Indonesians illegal migrants. Etc.
This kind of news were too frequent for us to hear and witness. It affect us too.

Malaysians only hear a news about some Bendera bunch threat Malaysians, without any Malaysians were actually harmed. But what we hear in return was/is many times worse. I am just trying to portrait the effect of what you hear and see in the media here. Hope you understand what I mean.

Anti Rela, I agree 1000% with your opinion ..

Honestly speaking, many Indonesians like me, very very disappointed with Malaysia provocation in Karang Unarang (Ambalat) in February 2005. This incident has changed my perception on Malaysia … I don’t still understand how they can do that to their neighbor when we still busy to help our people in Aceh after a 9.0 earth quake + big tsunami in December, 2004. Thats the turning point, not only for me but also to many other Indonesians.

Other incidents such as Rasa Sayange, Reog Pononrogo, Angklung, Nirmala Bonat, Ronald, Reog Ponorogo, further incident in Ambalat, Pendet etc make me feel that there is no good in faith as a neighbor from Malaysia ..

So, I can understand why many Indonesians ultra nationalist like Bendera can’t control their emotion as same as an idiot Malay like Khairy Jamaluddin …

    ——-
    Khairy: Don’t test our patience

PETALING JAYA: Indonesians should not continue to test the patience of Malaysians, said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

“Indonesians should understand that Malaysians are also sensitive, and get angry at hearing our country labelled negatively, and seeing our national flag burnt.

“We realise we need to understand and learn about the sensitivities of Indonesians. I hope Indonesians will not continue testing the patience of Malaysians because it will incite similar aggressive nationalism from us,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Maka kedua-dua bangsaku, marilah kita bersatu demi, Agama Bangsa & Negara.

Apa pun Kembalikanlah kedamaian & kasih sayang kita…Amin
